Sustainable Irrigation begins with knowledge. Heads Up Sprinkler Co. believes in understanding and keeping up with current technologies and water saving sprinkler products. A Rain & Freeze Sensor is a combination product of both a Rain Sensor and a Freeze Sensing unit.
The rain sensor component of the device, also called rain shut-off device or rain switch and is designed to interrupt a scheduled cycle of an automatic irrigation system controller when a designated amount of rainfall has occurred. By eliminating unnecessary irrigation, the Rain Sensor can improve irrigation efficiency, conserve water, reduce wear on the irrigation system, reduce disease and weed pressure on turfgrass/landscapes, and reduce the runoff that carry pollutants–such as fertilizers and pesticides–into storm drains and groundwater.
Rain & Freeze Sensors:
· Reduce utility bills and turf maintenance costs by minimizing over-watering
· Improve plant & turf health by protecting from freezes
· Minimize risk of freezing sidewalks, driveways and walkways from sprinkler watering
Over-watering, is a major form of inefficient irrigation, is the most common cause of plant stress and death, not to mention unnecessary water bills and runoff into storm drains. Heads Up Sprinkler Co. can install/advise or discuss incorporating new technologies into your sprinkler systems. Sensors are particularly helpful in optimizing water use for sprinkler systems.
Rain & Freeze Sensors
o Small devices wired into automatic irrigation systems
o Overrides the watering cycle when rainfall is adequate
o Dallas REQUIRES Rain & Freeze Sensors on all automatic sprinkler systems
o Many North Texas Cities offer rebates on Water Utility Bills for newly installed sensors.
